About northern Madagascar

Due to the lack of roads this part of Madagascar has remained for a long time cut off from the rest of the country. Today work on the main national road (RN6) is now over and it has become easy to drive through the area. The Nosy Be airport can now receive international flights from Paris, Milano, Johannesburg and Saint Denis de La Réunion as well as domestic flights from Antananarivo. Those new facilities have increased the attraction of the region and allowed greater number of tourists to reach easily the Nosy be resorts as well as the natural treasures of the main island.
The northern region of Madagascar, preserved from any human impact, where prosperous nature rich and complex
The north of Madagascar is certainly the most varied part of the island. It hosts the last sanctuaries of the primary forest and is the ideal ground for every tropical plantation. Its seashore has always provided sailors with a number of natural shelters : bays, creeks and sandy beaches.

From the Amber Cape to virgin island coast around Nosy Be, an old muslim commercial center facing the east you will meet of number of human types baring testimony to the sucessive migrations from Eastern Africa, Yemen, Indonesia, India or Europe. The main regional town, Diego Suarez displays its nostalgic colonial architecture where creole coloured houses hug mosque minarets. The region is full of exceptionnal landscapes such as the Ankarana Tsingys, limestone rugged peaks sculpted by erosion, the lush primary forest of Amber Mountain, the wild coastline and its strings of islands lined with heavenly beaches. All those sites host an incredible endemic fauna and flora as if Madagascar where the natural laboratoy of evolution.
