Ankify is the name of the small port which links Nosy be to the main island thanks to a great many boats called: coque, ferry ou teuf-teuf according to their speed or their tonnage. Rather poor but largely used road of 28km allows reaching the national road 6 and the cocoa plantations surrounding Ambanja. A dam crosses the mangrove and divided this peninsula covered with lush vegetation.
The forest has retreaded because of rice burnt clearings. Little by little it is replaced by large banana and pineapple plantations. At the far end of the peninsula Doany village is skirted by two lovely beaches separated by big rocks covered with trees.
